The six naturally occurring tastes are sweet, sour, bitter, pungent, astringent, and salty. When we eat all the six tastes in a meal, our bodies feel nourished, satisfied, and balanced.
Our tasting platter typically consists of six dishes, each representing a specific taste. It is normally a platter of rice, dal, curry, salads, sauerkraut, roasted vegetables, and poppadoms.
